Fringe Festival Accessibility

Accessibility Services

In planning for our mostly digital Fringe Festival we have tried to put accessibility at the forefront and create various different accessibility measures for as many shows as possible. There are 3 main accessibility features available at this year’s Fringe Festival:

Audio Description: Audio description is a narration service that attempts to describe what the sighted person takes for granted, designed to make works more accessible to blind or low-vision viewers. For works that have audio description, there will be a link to the audio described version once you have accessed the video. For some you will specially be able to buy a ticket for the audio described version. Audio description will be available for the following works: Dawn States Company, The Celebrity Guide to Mental Health and Wellness, Looks Like Sounds LikeOne Rain Full of Grace, JADA Dance: Be the Rhythm, Project Management for Producers, Crossover: A New Pop Musicalfun with dick & jane: working title, and Zoom Reality TV.

Open/Closed Captioning: Many digital works this year will feature captioning of the performance. Captioning is a text display of all of the words and sounds heard during the performance. Some works will have a specially captioned version of their piece that you can either purchase a ticket to or access via our website. Other pieces will have captions that you can turn on by selecting the “CC” icon on the platform. Captions will be available for the following works: Elephant Room: Dust from the Stars, Colors of HopeThe Celebrity Guide to Mental Health and Wellness, One Rain Full of Grace, American Chameleon: The Living Installments, Legal Tender, The Wig Wag Workshop: Exploring Voice, Crossover: A New Pop Musical, The Orlando Project, Baby Whale and the Plastic Ocean, Looks Like Sounds Like, A/B Machines, Untitled Bizzarro Bill Project, Trashbot, Project Management for Producers, SEX TAPE, Bluebeard: A Socially Distanced Talegate, and Zoom Reality TV.

Field Calls, Lilith and Her Demons, and Healthcare Heroes – A Radioplay will also have transcripts available for audience members who prefer text to audio.

ASL Interpretation: The Making of BOY PROJECT will have ASL interpretation on Saturday, Sept 19. Walk Around Philadelphia – a perimeter pilgrimage will have ASL Interpretation for the talkback on Sunday, Oct 4. American Chameleon: The Living Installments will have ASL interpretation on Monday, September 21. Please request ASL interpretation 2 weeks prior to the performance by contacting patronservices@fringearts.com or 215-413-1318.

For any questions about accessibility for the Fringe Festival or to request additional accessibility services please contact our patron services team at patronservices@fringearts.com or 215-413-1318.
