Since the 1970s, composer and master hand drummer Adam Rudolph has been pioneering new sounds in jazz and world music for decades. Rudolph explores the musical forms, languages, instrumentation, and cosmologies of Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and the African Diaspora, often through large ensembles. His compositions display unusual relationships that culminate into wildly imaginative and unexpected sonic universes. Yusef Lateef, Sam Rivers, Pharoah Sanders, Don Cherry, Foday Musa Suso and Hassan Hakmoun are a few of his many collaborators, who have informed his broad aesthetic. These extraordinary musicians, composers, and bandleaders in their own right and their collective experience reads like a who’s who of contemporary music – from Wilco to Cassandra Wilson to Ornette Coleman. Go: Organic Guitar Orchestra’s debut, Turning Towards the Light (Cuneiform Rune) will be released this fall.
