Airports are endlessly fascinating places—intersections of almost every imaginable personality with logistical challenges galore. Based upon interviews conducted with airport personnel globally, Airport Opened offers an opportunity to bear witness to an airport’s human side through the perspectives of people who actually work there.

Brian Shapiro presents is the producing company for performance artist Brian Shapiro. Brian has 20+ years experience as an interdisciplinary performer, communication professional, author, and keynote speaker. Brian is the founder and president of Shapiro Communications, a professional development company that provides workplace communication workshops and training programs to organizations across multiple industries. On the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania, he attended a doctorate program in Performance Studies at The University of Texas at Austin, and holds a BA (San Diego State University) and MA (San Francisco State University) in Communication Studies. A dedicated tai chi and yoga practitioner, Brian’s written and performed in numerous original theatrical productions, including the last 4 consecutive Philadelphia FringeArts Festivals, and is the vocalist/lyricist for the Paris-based musical trio, Grand Plateau. Born and raised in California, Brian and his family currently live in the Fairmount neighborhood. This year’s production, Airport Opened, is also being presented at Montreal-based Airports Council International 2018 Airport Customer Excellence Global Summit in Halifax, Canada on September 13, 2018.
