Blue Stoop Presents: Tommy Pico

In conversation with Zach Blackwood

Monday, November 18

Runtime TBA

Monday, November 18 at 7:30pm
Happy Hour in La Peg beforehand!

Tommy “Teebs” Pico is author of the books IRL, Nature Poem, Junk, Feed, and myriad keen tweets including “sittin on the cock of the gay.” Originally from the Viejas Indian reservation of the Kumeyaay nation, he now splits his time between Los Angeles and Brooklyn. He co-curates the reading series Poets with Attitude, co-hosts the podcast Food 4 Thot (part of Blue Heaven 2019), and is a contributing editor at Literary Hub.

Feed (forthcoming from Tin House Books 2019) is the fourth book in the Teebs tetralogy, partly an epistolary recipe for the main character, a juke box of nourishments, and a jaunty walk through the High Line park in New York, with the lines and the stanzas and the paragraphs and the dialogue and the registers approximating the park’s cultivated gardens of wildness. Amongst its questions, Feed asks what’s the difference between being alone and being lonely? Can you ever really be friends with an ex? What’s the perfect Mac & Cheese recipe? Feed is an ode of reconciliation to the wild inconsistencies of a northeast spring, a frustrating season of back-and-forth, of thaw and blizzard, but with a faith that among the mess it knows where it’s going.

Zach Blackwood is a poet, performance curator, and Artistic Producer at FringeArts. He made the chapbook, SEXY UNIQUE HOLLOW POINT, out now from glo worm press. He has poems published in peach mag, occulum, bedfellows magazine, maudlin house, and elsewhere. He is available on the world wide web @blackwhom.

Blue Stoop is a new literary hub in Philadelphia working to connect writers, bookstores, publishers, venues, and sponsors, both nationally and locally, to promote a richer and more sustainable literary community.
