Tongue & Groove Spontaneous Theater is an ensemble of actors who improvise a montage of funny and touching scenes and monologues, inspired by personal information anonymously submitted by you, our audience. You are our inspiration – the actors riff off of your thoughts and feelings, like jazz musicians riff off a theme. Without our collaboration with you, there is no performance! Our goal is for you to experience a feeling of connection to the actors and to your fellow audience members, as connection is our name and our vision. Since the founding of T&G in 2006 we’ve honed our signature style of serio-comic, truth-inspired, Actors’ Improv™. We’ve performed all around Philadelphia introducing this unique style of theater to the community. We are thrilled to have been invited to perform at the Kimmel Center for both the 2011 and 2013 PIFA Festivals, and this is our tenth Philly FringeArts Festival! In addition, we’re delighted to have formed a relationship with InterAct Theatre for The Stolen Set Series in which we explored the theme of each play in InterAct’s 2017-18 season and performed on each set. Outside of Philly, our Producing Artistic Director, Bobbi Block, has traveled the world teaching Actors’ Improv, and has taught T&G’s popular show Secrets for performances in Brazil, Holland and New Zealand. For our 2018/19 season, we will perform four unique shows in four different venues! See tongue-groove.com for more information.
