Before I die, I want to be this wild. A child is hospitalized for three months and allowed to paint on the walls. A room is devoured by paint and glitter, by dance, karaoke, and other ill-advised performance moments, all with the goal of abandon and mortal arrival. Come doctors. Come nurses. Come mothers and doulas.

Magda has been making performance in Philadelphia since she came here to study at the Headlong Performance Institute in 2012. Her work with Chelsea Murphy was presented locally and in other cities by FringeArts, JACK, Joe’s Pub DanceNOW, the Effervescent Collective and NoTheme Festival. She was a recipient of the Independence Fellowship in 2018. Her work romances many genres: dance, theater, stand-up comedy, and lecture/demonstration. She works collaboratively and in rigorous isolation. Themes that come up again and again are: shame, death, grief, wildness, subversion, childhood and sass. She is currently working on a solo show that is inspired by her time as the artist-in-residence at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. For the audience: You may get paint on you, please don’t wear anything precious.
