First Person Arts GrandSlam
First Person Arts
Monday, May 20 at 7:30pm
From December through April, First Person Arts Storytellers have shared their lives with us. We got motivated in January, fell in and out of love in February, witnessed transformations with Promotions in March, and embraced the onslaught of nature in April. Now, we bring the top ten winning storytellers AND audience favorites to compete for the title of “Best Storyteller in Philadelphia,” free Slam admission for life, a sparkly microphone trophy, and a $250 cash prize.
What’s a StorySlam? A StorySlam is more than a storytelling competition. It’s an invitation to share five minutes of your life and connect with a room full of people who appreciate a well-told tale. Gutsy audience members sign up at the door to tell true stories on the theme of the night. Of those who sign up, ten storytellers are randomly selected to take to the stage with their most outrageous, heartfelt, and hilarious tales. Judges, also selected from the audience, determine the StorySlam winner, who is awarded a $100 prize, and a chance to compete in the season finale Grand Slam. Got five minutes? Come and lend an ear, or share an experience!
Join us at La Peg for a drink before the show! La Peg offers Happy Hour deals Monday through Friday from 5pm to 7pm. Specials include $3 glasses of house wine, $3 any draft pint, $6 rotating Power’s Irish Whisky featured cocktail, and three rotating $5 bar snack specials.
