What’s a StorySlam? A StorySlam is more than a storytelling competition. It’s an invitation to share five minutes of your life and connect with a room full of people who appreciate a well-told tale. Gutsy audience members sign up at the door to tell true stories on the theme of the night. Of those who sign up, ten storytellers are randomly selected to take to the stage with their most outrageous, heartfelt, and hilarious tales. Judges, also selected from the audience, determine the StorySlam winner, who is awarded a $100 prize, and a chance to compete in the season finale Grand Slam. Got five minutes? Come and lend an ear, or share an experience! The theme for this month’s StorySlam: Alter Ego.

Who doesn’t have an alter ego? That persona that at times gets us through tough situations or simply uncomfortable ones. This month, as we prepare for our 2018 First Person Arts Festival, we want to hear the stories of your alter ego. Does it show up at work? Amongst friends? Family? Whether you come with a story or with an ear to hear one, stride into First Person Arts StorySlam: Alter Ego.

Join us at La Peg for a drink before the show! La Peg offers Happy Hour deals Monday through Friday from 5pm to 7pm. Specials include $3 glasses of house wine, $3 any draft pint, $6 rotating Power’s Irish Whisky featured cocktail, and three rotating $5 bar snack specials. Ask for the $6 Alter Ego drink special featuring bols curacao, tequila, lime, and triple sec.
