Like a poison cookie—tempting and treacherous, pleasing and perilous—Get Pegged Cabaret lures you inside a reimagined La Peg, then jumps you with unrestrained intimacy and performance. Each night features uncensored and stimulating entertainment from the sexy, satirical, daring, delightful, queer, and most dangerous performers from Philadelphia, New York, and beyond.
April Artists:
Ivo Dimchev is a choreographer and performance artist from Bulgaria – author of more than 30 performances, known for being bold and provocative.
His enormous musicality and remarkable vocal gift is part of all of his productions. Dimchev has received numerous awards for dance and theater and has presented his work all over Europe, South and North America, including FringeArts (Fest, 2015).
Gosia and The Flying Whales (Malgorzata”Gosia” Kasprzycka) is a Paris based Polish performer, director, voice dancer, singer of ancient songs, a nomad, lover of broken things, deep ocean creatures and theatre stages of all kind; she writes and sings in Polish, English, French and languages without name.
During Get Pegged, Gosia, a traitor daughter of Polish soil exiled in Paris, will sing to confront the virus of Polish insanity.
Poland – a country far far away you never think about- a country, as Alfred Jarry described it, “in the middle of nowhere,” is drowning in a sea of madness.
The ruling far right wing party, controlling both Houses of Parliament, the Constitutional Tribunal and the public media, divides the country in patriots and traitors.
The partiots believe in Jesus Christ King of Poland, vengeance, their mission to confront Germany and a quest to protect the country from bad influences coming from, well, basically everywhere where people don’t speak Polish.
The list of traitors is much longer and includes (among others): foreigners, free media, artists whose work is not patriotic, cyclists, vegetarians, homosexuals, feminists and activists of all kind, Jews, communists and ecologists.
Why should you be concerned? No idea.
