Like a poison cookie—tempting and treacherous, pleasing and perilous—Get Pegged Cabaret lures you inside a reimagined La Peg, then jumps you with unrestrained intimacy and performance. Each night features uncensored and stimulating entertainment from the sexy, satirical, daring, delightful, queer, and most dangerous performers from Philadelphia, New York, and beyond.
May Artists:
Meet Slanty Eyed Mama: two good Asian girls gone bad-assed. Virtuostic electric violinist Lyris Hung (who has also played with Jay-Z, Bono, has her own death metal band called “Hung” and tours with The Indigo Girls ) and Comedian/Poet Kate Rigg. Their collaboration started as students at NYC’s Juilliard school where they experimented with mashing up rock n’ roll, political comedy and spoken word. Invited twice to the Smithsonian, featured on PBS, LOGO, Pacific TV, and headlining major music and comedy festivals they are a dynamic force to be reckoned with!
“Stunning … dense, multi-layered, surreal imagery interlocks perfectly with ferociously distorted, nasty, searing violin work, a killer combination of words, music and noise”. –Anchorage Daily News
“Wild” – Northwest Asian Weekly
“Smart Edgy Fearless” –Washington Post
The musician and multi-media artist, Daniel de Jesús was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His art artwork and music are a fusion Baroque music and art, pop-culture and the history Puerto Rico and South America.
Daniel de Jesus is celebrating the last 10 years of his recording career with the release of “El Oculto”, a survey of his underground recordings. The performance utilizes the brilliance of Daniel’s technical cello playing and singing, accompanied by electronic beats, and a video piece created by the artist. The artist will also be wearing a costume designed specifically for him by designer Sienna Martz.
