Hailed by audiences as “Tubular? No thanks, I don’t surf” and “That’s a thing?”, Tubular is the world’s preeminent tuba cover band. Assembled from the greater mid-Atlantic region, Tubular’s members spend their days playing in the premier cultural institutions of the east coast, only to don leather pants and too much hair product by night, to bring your favorite songs into the lowest of tessituras. For some part of the last decade (give or take 9 or so years) Tubular has thrilled audiences who literally didn’t know tubas could do that. Playing dazzling arrangements from Lady Gaga to Queen, on stages from Philadelphia to Washington, D.C., this quintet of highly trained and highly sarcastic musicians is hell-bent on vigorously entertaining live shows and world domination, among other things. Audience members are encouraged to bring their singing voices, dancing shoes, and party pants–in that order.
