High school football gets genderbent by a female and transgender cast.
“Launching a goal-line drive to a new feminist form.” – Helen Shaw, Time Out New York
An all-female cast puts a gender-queer spin on the players, coaches and cheerleaders of a high school football team, complete with a marching band. The show follows the players through a season of wins and loses, shifting allegiances, power plays, hormonal imbalances and adolescent turmoil, using teen vernacular to convey a time in the lives of young people when everything is a big deal, and yet nothing matters. Written and directed by Tina Satter, In the Pony Palace/Football is a production of the Obie Award-winning New York-based performance troupe, Half Straddle.
