Absurd art-house comedy that’s equal parts personal and experimental. Waiting for Godot meets GG Allin. Pina Bausch meets Penis Pouch.
Philadelphia comedy regulars The Incredible Shrinking Matt and Jacquie (Matt Schmidt and Jacquie Baker) and The New Dreamz (Rose Luardo and Andrew Jeffrey Wright) have together created a a porthole to all the performing arts they find divine: costume, improv, dance and absurdist comedy. Here’s what you will see when you come to the show: a foursome couple navigating reality and dream states. They make regular life less regular with dance bologna, movable emotions and a dunce cap.
The Incredible Shrinking Matt and Jacquie’s video sketches have been featured on The A.V. Club, and they have opened for Brent Weinbach, DJ Douggpound, and McQueen, and will be opening for Emo Phillips in October 2016. Matt & Jacquie have performed in the Toronto Sketchfest, Montreal Sketchfest, NYC Sketch Fest, Philly Sketchiest, the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, and a showcase for IFC talent scouts produced by Good Good Comedy. They are three-time winners of the Dirtiest Sketch In Philadelphia contest (2013-2015), and were nominated for Comedy Act of The Year at the 2015 Philebrity Awards. Matt & Jacquie are also members of the Philly Improv Theater sketch team The Flat Earth (SF Sketchfest, Chicago Sketchfest, “Producer’s Pick” Runner Up – Toronto Sketch Fest, “Best Newcomer” – Montreal Sketchiest).
The New Dreamz video and performance work has been featured at Clocktower Gallery NYC, PS1 MoMA NYC and Slow Culture Gallery LA. They have produced music videos for Soft Circle and Dan Deacon (written and directed by Andrew Jeffrey Wright). The New Dreamz have been on two comedy tours and opened for Fred Armisen, Maria Bamford, Duncan Trussell and Neil Hamburger.
