Jordan Flaherty was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and moved to Philadelphia at age 24 in pursuit of a music career. From a bar residency at The Raven Lounge to playing the main stage at World Cafe Live, he has found his way into the Philly music scene.
Songwriting has been Jordan’s foremost passion for several years — he was a poet long before applying the written word to music. His uncle passed away shortly after he graduated from Bloomsburg University, and when his family inherited the piano from his late uncle’s home, he was immediately drawn to the allure of the ebony and ivory. After six months of piano lessons and his big-city move, he started creating piano-based music that fuses rock, R&B, and pop. His genre-bending catalogue owes some of its influence to the likes of Billy Joel, Frank Ocean, and Bon Iver. His lyrics enrich the warm piano chords of his work and often display Jordan’s connection with love and loss. These themes shine through on his debut album, We Go Places, which was released in May 2018. The album chronicles a romantic relationship, in both its struggles and triumphs. Whether falling in love or out of love, there is a song for every listener on Jordan Flaherty’s versatile first musical venture.
