The SwitchMap

Calling all queerdos, kiddos, queers with kids, and kids of queers! Join Julie Be (of Ants on a Log) for this special show full of family-friendly queer joy. Recommended for ages 4-11 (as measured by chronology or spirit).

Julie Be (they/them) is one half of Ants on a Log, a nationally acclaimed duo playing socially conscious music for children and other childlike people. In 2020, Julie produced the “Trans & Nonbinary Kids Mix,” which was featured widely in national media as a milestone in the world of intersectional children’s music. The free album features Julie’s song “They’re My Best Friend,” which was the first song with all nonbinary pronouns to air on national radio. Julie also produces Practice Your Pronouns, a sing-along video series that promotes pronoun fluency and nonbinary visibility by switching pronouns in well-known songs. In 2021, Julie received a Leeway Foundation Transformation Award, recognizing Philly-based social justice artists. Julie is currently working on an album of new songs for queer families. Content Considerations

Ingredients may include artistic experimentation, adult content, consensual touch, ear worms, nudity, jubilation, great selfie material, rampant queerness, works-in-progress, and many repeat visits. Not every show will be for everyone so feel free to come, and go, as you please. You know your diet, taste, allergies, and aphrodisiacs better than we do.
