Exploring isolation by embodying digital reality, Monday Is Years Long examines the contradictions and overlaps between virtual closeness, spatial distance, and the proximity of live performance.
Warm, reflective, radically honest, and intensely playful, this full-length world premiere tells the story of individuals with limitless access to connection through technology, who suddenly find themselves stuck in a world where their desire for human contact may lead to disaster and death. Through moments both public and private, comic and intimate, we glimpse the lives of these individuals as they try to coexist in small, isolated spaces.
Created by the 10 artist-athletes in their second year at the Circadium School of Contemporary Circus, Monday Is Years Long blends circus, dance, and theatre as it illuminates the search for — and possibility of — community support when we find ourselves separated. This ensemble of movement artists invite us in, to follow them as they navigate finding togetherness in a world very new — where alone is safety, and together is risk. Performed outdoors live. Bring your own blankets and lawn chairs for seating.
Performers include: Will Aaron, Chantal Aguirre, Cassie Caldwell, Erin Gettelman, Jenny Kinzel, Ash Meyer, Josh Mosier, Hayden Simpson, Copper Santiago, and Josh Spaugh.
The 2021 Hand to Hand Circus Festival will be held in-person this June, and FringeArts and our partners will be following all local and state health and safety guidelines.
