Rock on Pointe puts the music from the 1970s on pointe (as in ballet shoes)! This year’s shows will consist of songs from Peter Frampton, Fleetwood Mac, Ambrosia, and others. The dancers will display their talent to “rock on pointe” to choreography of ballet and a touch of jazz. A family show that is fun for all!
$22 / 75 minutes
“The idea of putting the music from the decade of the 1970’s to dance is something I wanted to do since I was a modern dance student in the early 1980’s, ” states the companies’ founder Kathy Fitzpatrick . Finally in the spring of 2016 the company debuted at the TLA. As the audience gave the dancers a loud and lasting round of applause after every song, I knew this would be the beginning of my dream. Even the stage techs stood still and watched my dancers work their pointe movement across the stage. I picked pointe dance because this is the way to unite rock fans and ballet. I am always surprised to hear that many rock fans have rarely if ever been to a ballet. This is my way of uniting two art forms that I love. When I talk to people about our company I very often hear the following comment ” That is something that even my husband or son would go and see”.
