Like a poison cookie—tempting and treacherous, pleasing and perilous—Get Pegged Cabaret lures you inside a reimagined La Peg, then jumps you with unrestrained intimacy and live music and performance. Each night features uncensored and stimulating entertainment from the sexy, satirical, daring, delightful, queer, and most dangerous performers on the cabaret scene, a one night stand between a local Philadelphia artist and another performer from around the world.
November’s Get Pegged will be opened by Girl Poop and headlined by Morgan Bassichis!

About Morgan Bassichis
Experience an evening of stand-up comedy and music from New York-based performance artist Morgan Bassichis. Morgan has been called “a tall child or, well, a big bird” (by the Nation) and “fiercely hilarious” (by the New Yorker), and Morgan’s shows have been described as “out there” (by Morgan’s mother) and “super intense” (by Morgan). In Morgan’s own words, “I truly hope this evening will be useful to someone, somewhere.”
Morgan Bassichis is a comedic performer who has been called “a tall child or, well, a big bird” by the Nation and “fiercely hilarious” by the New Yorker. Recent shows include Nibbling the Hand That Feeds Me at the Whitney Museum (2019), Klezmer for Beginners at Abrons Arts Center (2019), Damned If You Duet at the Kitchen (2018), More Protest Songs! at Danspace Project (2018), and The Faggots & Their Friends Between Revolutions: The Musical at the New Museum (2017). Morgan has presented work at the Brooklyn Museum, Hirshhorn Museum, MoMA PS1, and the Portland Institute of Contemporary Art. Morgan lives in New York City, and has contributed writing to Artforum, Radical History Review, Captive Genders, and the Nightboat Books edition of The Faggots & Their Friends Between Revolutions. Girl Poop is a femme foursome specializing in Pussy Pop Rock. Serving original tunes about sex, shame, self love, and secret pleasures, these pop queens deliver a high octane sugar rush that will leave you wet and stuck to your seats.
Girl Poop is Alicia Crosby, Kelly Conrad, Francesca Montanile, and Megan Thibodeaux. Terran Scott composes their backing tracks. The members of Girl Poop specialize in comedy, improvisation, directing, teaching, costume design, prop design, and producing. Companies they have worked with include Pig Iron Theatre Company, Nichole Canuso Dance Company, Team Sunshine, Bristol Riverside Theatre, Theatre Unspeakable, Philly Improv Theater, and Antigravity Performance Project.
About the Bearded Ladies Cabaret
The Bearded Ladies Cabaret is an interdisciplinary troupe of artists who reinvigorate and redefine the form of cabaret in the 21st century by fusing it with theater, opera, and dance. They play with nostalgia and humor to question the embedded social messages in popular culture and tackle the politics of gender, identity, and artistic invention with sparkle and wit. Their work has been seen all over Philadelphia including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Eastern State Penitentiary, Opera Philadelphia, the Wilma Theater, and FringeArts and they have brought their cabaret revolution to Miami, New Zealand, Seattle, Paris, Maryland, Delaware and New York City (Ars Nova, La Mama, and Joe’s Pub).
About John Jarboe
John Jarboe (she/he) is a cabaret artist, director, writer, historian, and host serving you revolution, herstory, queer community making, and a whole lot of glitter. He is the founding artistic director of The Bearded Ladies Cabaret. Going back to the interdisciplinary roots of cabaret, Jarboe is transforming opera, cabaret, and live performance from her home in Philadelphia, making work that is insistent on its liveness and interactivity, work that will make you sing, dance, clap and question. He plays host to a community of cabaret misfits from around the world, trying to stitch together the history of and practice of a much needed form.
