Imagine walking through your grandparents’ home, each room filled with vivid memories–your great-grandmother writing a novel, your grandmother riding a motorcycle, your mother believing she lived and died in the Holocaust. Shifting between memory and reality, these musings are gauzy, crisp, Jewish, blurry and honest.

Talia Mason is a dancer and choreographer interested in the intersections of kinesthetic and verbal language. Born in London, raised in the D.C. metro area with several years spent in Paris, she is currently living, teaching, and making dances in Philadelphia, PA. Talia holds a BA in Dance and French/Francophone Studies from Bates College and a post-baccalaureate in performance studies from Headlong Performance Institute. She grew up dancing at the Liz Lerman Dance Exchange and at the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company. She has studied at the Bates Dance Festival with Chris Aiken, Jen Nugent and Stephan Koplowitz. Talia choreographs because she believes wholeheartedly that ordinary bodies can do extraordinary things and that anyone can dance and that everyone should dance. Her dances ask questions and open up dialogue. She has performed in work choreographed by Belle Alvarez, Rachel Boggia, Sean Dorsey, Lily Kind, Tiffany Rhynard, and Mira Treatman. When she is not in the dance or yoga studio, she can be found teaching Movement to Pre-school through Kindergarteners at Greene Towne Montessori School, as well as doing communications work for Headlong.
