Asya was born in Moscow and trained throughout the DC/Baltimore area. She graduated Goucher College and joined Koresh Dance Company in 2008. She began producing her own work in 2016 and “BARRY: Mamaloshen in Dance!” premiered at the Fringe Festival that same year. She works with artists and photographers in her rehearsal process. In this year’s Fringe Festival, she will show a new work, “STORM”, which fleshes out Gustav Holst’s powerful Planets Suite, coming up on a 100 year anniversary of its 1918 premier. The characters in “STORM” exhibit extreme emotional states, but ultimately represent the varying beautiful and petrifying emotions which can all be found in a single human being.
