The Phenomenal Animals are a Philadelphia-based performance ensemble that devises interactive classical, historical, mythological, and fantastical performance experiences that blur the line between fiction and reality. Their work is based in the idea that theatre can address big problems and entertain simultaneously. Their shows invite audiences to participate on their own terms. Audiences are able to engage with the magic of the play from the comfort of their seats or to jump up and join the performance, contributing their own actions to the experience. The co-creative atmosphere they establish allows audiences to not only watch but also live and feel the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual dimensions of the play. Seen earlier this year: Lacey Ward: Girl Detective at the Walnut Street Theatre Studio 5, The Bacchae at the Walnut Street Theatre Studio 5, and the Jersey Fringe Festival.
