REV Theatre Company’s aim is to revitalize and transform the great classic plays that share heightened language and universal themes. We explore the relationship between language and performance through a mix of our rigorous approach to the text with intensely physical staging and musical production numbers. We are committed to making theatre a vital part of our society, and making live arts accessible to and affordable for a widely diverse audience. We create cultural activities that enrich the lives of young people and families, particularly those who are underserved in the arts. We present our productions in urban parks and unique public spaces (a municipal parking lot, a tiny storefront on the Lower East Side of New York, the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, a pier on the Hudson River, an iconic, historically-landmarked Philadelphia cemetery) in New York, Philadelphia, throughout Connecticut and in upstate New York. These outdoor productions enable REV to engage with communities that cross racial, cultural, ethnic and economic backgrounds in New York, the Tri-State area and Pennsylvania. Production History Our production of Midsummer Night’s Dream which has been presented thus far, to over 8,500 people in New York City, Philadelphia, Scranton, throughout Connecticut and upstate New York garnering critical acclaim and extremely enthusiastic responses from audiences. Our adaptation of an Elizabethan play, The Witch of Edmonton has had 2 Off-Off Broadway runs, was invited to be a part of the International Festival of Arts & Ideas in Connecticut, and came to Philadelphia, where the production played to sold-out houses. REV’s productions of Hamlet and Othello were presented in the Southern Tier of New York to three thousand high school and middle school students as part of an educational initiative in partnership with the Goodwill Theatre. We have partnered with iconic Laurel Hill Cemetery to bring our Graveyard Cabaret to the Philadelphia Fringe. This year’s They Only Come Out At Night will be our fourth collaboration with Laurel Hill. Our original children’s musical theatre children’s pieces were company created with over 2,000 children in YMCA’s and Boys & Girls Clubs in New York, Philadelphia, throughout Connecticut and presented free to the public. REV has partnered with United Neighborhood Centers in Scranton since 2012, working with at-risk children and teenagers.
