Fringe changed my life in relationship to the theatre scene in Philadelphia. In 2012 I moved to Philadelphia and that fall I made a vow to myself that I would see as many venues as possible to familiarize myself with the Theatre scene. I signed up to volunteer usher at several different Fringe Festival shows. I was able to see the venues, as well as the performances for free, I encountered many theatre professionals as well as patrons who were able to share their knowledge with me and rounded out my understanding of the arts in Philadelphia. If it wasn’t for that experience, I wouldn’t be where I am now, professionally as well as personally. I credit the Fringe with being a force in this city that affords many people many different opportunities to experience theatre in whatever capacity they so choose.
