Philly Fringe Vital Stats: Abby Shunskis

Posted August 31st, 2010

In this series, get to know your 2010 Philly Fringe artists a little bit better. Today: the woman with all the pieces.

Name: Abby Shunskis.

Age: 26.

Where do you live now? The Philadelphia area.

Where were you born? Upper Darby.

What’s your show title? Picking Up Pieces.

What was the first thing you stole?
Probably something that I thought was way over priced for such a silly thing. That was my justification for stealing.

What’s your favorite alcoholic beverage?
Water, vodka and lime juice; Long Island iced tea. I like most beer and wine too.

What was the last performance you saw?
Aladdin, the last show at the summer theater program I work for, Upper Darby Summer Stage.

What’s your favorite Philly intersection?
Anywhere down by the river. There is a statue I love, near Chestnut and Front Streets.

What’s the worst thing you ever did for money?
Hmm—probably kissed girls. Not that that was bad, but it was done for money . . . so I guess kinda.

Do you own a gun? If so, have you fired it in anger?
Absolutely not. And never ever. I’m very against guns, can you tell?!

If you weren’t an artist, what would your job be?
I’d like to study psychology. I’d probably do something on those lines if I weren’t trying to be an artist.

What’s the most disgusting thing you’ve ever seen on SEPTA?
A woman totally passed out the floor dressed as a clown. I kid you not.

Picking Up Pieces runs September 5 and 25 at the CHI Movement Arts Center, 1316 South 9th Street, Philadelphia. Times vary, $15. For details and to purchase tickets, click here.
