Preview: Yael Rasooly’s “Paper Cut”

Posted August 9th, 2011

This year’s Philly Fringe has a cluster of shows coming over from Israel, including Paper Cut by solo performer Yael Rasooly. In the show, she plays a lonely secretary, passing the time with daydreams of 1940s Hollywood stardom. Why the title? Because her character brings that world to life using photos cut out from old film magazines. Watching this video, I first thought “Weird!” Then, “Charming!” Then, “Totally Fringe.”

Yael Rasooly’s Paper Cut runs September 4 through 7 at Media Bureau, 725 N. 4th Street, Northern Liberties. Times vary, $15. For tickets, click here.
