Philly Fringe Limericks: “Christie in Love”

Posted August 24th, 2011

The stars align! Iron Age Theatre is certainly known for its unapologetic approach to theater that advances social justice. John Doyle writes in, telling me that their 2011 Philly Fringe production Christie in Love, a play about English serial killer John Christie, begins with a series of off-color limericks like these two. Glad to see we’re planted in the limerick tradition, but be forewarned, it’s getting nasty up in the blog this morning. After the jump, to avoid those pesky workplace content filters!

The was an old skank from West Schott,
Whose doctor examined her twat.
He then ran to the hall,
Grabbed hold of a wall,
And promptly fell dead on the spot.

She got into the game as a stunt
And was told that she had to bunt.
She grabbed hold of the bat,
Yelled “to hell with that”
And shoved it right into her cunt.

Do you want more? Christie in Love runs at Eastern State Penitentiary, 2027 Fairmount Avenue, Philadelphia, and The Centre Theater, 208 Dekalb Street, Norristown. Dates, times, and location vary; $15.
