The Weekender: What You’re Doing And Why

Posted July 27th, 2012

Happy Friday, and happy Olympics! While watching the opening ceremonies tonight I’ll be marveling at the domestic craftsmanship of  the U.S. uniforms, swooning over Irish gymnast Kieran Behan (who doesn’t love a muscled Brogue?), and predicting which Olympic hard-won tale will make me cry this year.

When not questioning whether we should breed three-year-olds to be human rubber bands (see above), I might check out these performances:

>>>Friday: El Malito performs at World Cafe Live. 7:00 pm. Tickets are $15 if you buy them before, $17 at the door. Also, Philadelphia legends Dead Milkmen play at Union Transfer.

>>>Saturday: ART/GAGE is a display of South Street creative juices, featuring dance, music and crafts! Starts at noon. Ballet X, FREE performance at the Wilma Theater.

>>>All Weekend Long: Speaking of Philadelphia legends, Rennie Harris’ illadelph legends returns. Check out a class from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, runs through August 1. And Shakespeare in Clark Park presents Merry Wives of Windsor, through Sunday.
