Philly Fringe Vital Stats: Lauren Mandilian

Posted August 8th, 2012

Timelines choreographer and performer David Konyk, and, perhaps, his imago.

Lauren Mandilian‘s 2012 Philly Fringe Timelines is a product of her current artist residency at <fidget>. A collaboration with dancers David Konyk and Megan Bridge, Timelines combines video projection and dance, a marriage sure to send eyeballs into overdrive figuring out who’s who and what’s what.

Name: Lauren Mandilian

Where do you live now? My husband and I just bought our first house in the Fairmount neighborhood of Philadelphia.

Show Title: Timelines.

Explain your performance in 2 sentences. To an 8-year-old. Timelines is about time travel. It combines live dance and video making it hard to figure out who’s real and who’s not.

Your refrigerator: condiments and beer, or real food? Condiments and beer. Philadelphia has such great restaurants, why would you ever want to eat at home?

Favorite coffee shop? What do you order? The Flying Saucer; it’s on the corner of my street. My usual is a Nutella croissant with a small Milky Way latte.

What’s the worst piece of advice you ever received? Did you follow it? To see “The Happening”. Really, Mark Wahlberg, really?

A doctor puts a scope inside your ear. What does she see? A quarter? My doctor moonlights as a magician.

Timelines runs September 14 at 9:30 pm, and September 15 at 6:30 pm at thefidget space, 1714 North Mascher Street. $20.
