At the far end of #AnnHamilton’s Pier 9 installation, beyond the field of curtains, an inaccessible figure practices the ancient craft of spinning fleece into yarn. Another figure at a table slowly unravels knit garments to form a cloth of holes. These acts of making and unmaking face each other in #habitusFWM, and mark human time and agency. #PhillyFringe16 [Photo by @hardnthepainter]

we went on a field trip yesterday, specifically to see this incredible exhibit. not surprisingly, we ended up frolicking around the pier for a bit afterwards – there is so much to do on the waterfront! you can see our day in stories, and more on the blog. #whyilovephilly #habitus

At first glance, visitors might not register that #AnnHamilton’s curtains in #habitusFWM are made of Tyvek. The artist worked with @fabricworkshop’s studio staff to transform the same synthetic material that protects buildings during construction through washing, tea-dying, and hand printing. Loved seeing adults run around like kids playing with #habitusFWM. Tyvek is one hell of a fabric. #phillyfringe16 • • • #phillyarts #art #installation #igers_philly #igersphilly #textiles #fabric #philly #whyilovephilly #instaart #fiberart
