“Paper Cut” Stars at New York Fringe

Posted August 30th, 2011

A few weeks back we ran a video excerpt of Yael Rasooly’s 2011 Philly Fringe show Paper Cut. Before coming here, it’s been wowing folks at the New York Fringe, which selected it for the Encore series. And it got a great review in The New York Times ArtsBeat blog:

Ms. Rasooly has directed herself confidently in this work of paper-and-object theater, and she wrote the sweetly zany script with Lior Lerman. Their inspired wackiness reaches its height when a death is demonstrated by the violent repeated thrusts underwater of what I believe was a tea bag fighting for its life. The show’s overall effect is magnified by flawlessly chosen, mood-setting movie background music. (I’m pretty sure I heard a few bars from “Gone With the Wind.”)

Wanna see it? Details below:

Yael Rasooly’s Paper Cut runs September 4 through 7 at Media Bureau, 725 N. 4th Street, Northern Liberties. Times vary, $15. For tickets, click here.
