Join us for the return of Scratch Nights at Fringe!
This long-running works-in-progress series is an opportunity for artists and audiences to connect. See experimental works at various stages of development – from the first spark of something new to an excerpt of a finished piece. Come discover new artists or see an exciting debut from a longtime favorite.
Each Scratch Night a handful of artists from across disciplines will bring an informal showing of something they’re working on – and you’ll have a front row seat to their process. Stay for a drink, chat with artists and audiences about what you saw, and provide vital feedback that will help with the development of the work.
Scratch nights are PWYC ticketing starting from $0. All ticketing proceeds generated will be split amongst the participating artists!

The Waiting Room – Danielle Levsky
“The Waiting Room” follows Toska, a lonely clown caught in bureaucratic purgatory. As forms multiply endlessly and windows remain stubbornly closed, ordinary objects transform into portals of memory and connection. This excerpt explores how we carry home within us, finding unexpected hope in the spaces between belonging and displacement.
if i die before the revolution – BIGKID Dance
“If I Die Before the Revolution” is an evening-length contemporary dance theater work, acting as a fantasized eulogy and valediction for a group of queer people trying to survive a crumbling world chasing them to their doom. This contemporary dance work portrays a paracosm of a queer experience in today’s society, dealing with fear, love, identity, loneliness, death and the things we hope to leave behind.
i don’t have the right words for it yet – Madeline Shuron
Using overhead projector shadow puppetry and original text, I DON’T HAVE THE RIGHT WORDS FOR IT YET weaves together stories of artists, hustle culture, neoliberal bodies, and the world’s best shapeshifter: the frog.
Love is a Growing Up – Fred Andersen
A recovering gay man of 76 finds the love of his life, late in life. Only to find, when his husband suffers a serious stroke, that growing older – and growing up – never really stops.
Illusionary Line – Lauren Raske
‘Illusionary Line’ is an object manipulation performance exploring Perspective. In a time when reality feels increasingly uncertain, this piece investigates how the same subject can be seen, shaped, and interpreted in many different ways and from different viewpoints.
Sand in my Soda Pop – Nicole Bindler
Sand in My Soda Pop, created by Nicole Bindler and directed by Emme Kennedy, juxtaposes two of the most prevalent exports of this country: U.S. pop culture and bombs. Sand in My Soda Pop is a classic anti-war dance, a reverse strip tease, a middle finger to america.
CONTENT WARNING – Performance contains nudity and sounds of explosives/bombs.
Be sure to catch upcoming Scratch Night performances: April 07, May 12, + June 09
