Fringe Festival TV: Grounded Aerial Seeks The Insect Inside

Posted July 21st, 2010

Wanna dance on a wall? Grounded Aerial will show you how. Their performances integrate modern dance and aerial rigging to expand the surfaces and spaces available to dancers.

Can I describe it well? Not really. So Karen Fuhrman, the founder of Grounded Aerial, forwarded me this preview of their 2010 Philly Fringe show Insectinside:

And if you’re Brooklyn-way this weekend, you should consider stopping by their fundraiser. It’s only $20, and will feature performances from insectoid members of Cirque Du Soleil, Barnum and Bailey Circus, The Metropolitan Opera, De La Guarda, Pilobolus, and Fuerza Bruta. And of course, drinking and dancing, because your benefit night won’t be complete until you’ve grinded against a bug. The fundraiser will take place Saturday, July 24 at 8:30 pm. Embody Language Studio, 241 Bedford Avenue (between North 3rd and North 4th Streets), Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Insectinside will run at Philly Fringe from September 10 through September 12 at 7:00 pm, with a matinee on September 12 at 2:00 pm. Philadelphia School of Circus Arts, 5900A Greene Street, Germantown, Philadelphia. $18.
