Jackie

Villanova University, English and Communications

Video Production Intern

What was your favorite movie when you were a kid and what’s your favorite movie now?

When I was a kid, my favorite movie was the 1999 version of Annie; I think that says a lot about me, but not sure if I like what it says. Favorite movie now is My Cousin Vinny.

Where is your favorite place to go in Philadelphia?

My sisters houses! I like trying all their Trader Joe’s snacks. 

What’s the best way for you to start your day? 

Walk and breakfast. It’s also my dogs favorite way to start her day. 

If you could pick any song to describe yourself, what would it be?

“Kokomo” covered by Holiday Sidewinder, just because I’ve been listening to it on repeat for a year now.

Do you have any post-grad plans?

I got into grad school! I’m still deciding between doing that or becoming a rock star, astronaut, or ballerina.. my options are pretty open.

What do you do for fun?

I like to go on walks and practice my photography. 

Where do you volunteer?

I volunteer at Morris Animal Refuge and I bring supplies to homeless encampments around the city. 

What is your go-to karaoke song?

“When I Kissed the Teacher”… I used to have a crush on my creative writing professor and I dedicate it to him.

If you were a superhero who or what would be your arch nemesis?

Timothee Chalamet so we could have a slow burn enemies to lovers plot line.

Do you have any post grad plans?

I would like to do some seasonal work… I used to spend my summers in Utah on a campsite and I would like to do that in other places.

I’m starting to write on substack!

Yuanjun Yao

What would you say is your favorite trait that you have?

Resilient. I have accepted the fact that life is always filled with challenges and problems, so I have grown to be able to recover from bad emotions quickly and to refocus on the things I need to resolve. 

What’s your favorite hobby?

I love hiking with my friends when the weather is pleasant. My recent favorite hobby is doing puzzles. 

If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?

Italy. The setting of my favorite fiction, Neapolitan Novels by Elena Ferrante, is Italy. I wish one day I could go and explore these cities in this book, like Naples, Milan, and Florence. 

Do you have any post-grad plans?

I graduated last year!  My first post-grad plan is always traveling. I planned to go to Puerto Rico then and I did it!

Is there anything I didn’t ask you that you would like people to know about you?

I am a fan of Attack on Titan!

Favorite concert you’ve ever been to?

Cage the Elephant and Beck at Merriweather It started pouring rain and he did a mud slide right in front of me.

Do you collect anything?

I collect postcards from places I’ve been to, museums, landmarks… I have one from Vienna! I studied abroad in Prague and when my family came to visit me we took a trip there. 

Do you play an instrument?

I play piano, guitar, and I write my own songs!

What’s your favorite movie?

Graphic Design Intern

What made you interested in graphic design?

It found me! It was a class I took to fill hours and I fell in love with it. It was a challenge to do something technical, but it was lovely that it could be stored and safe. 

Where is the coolest place you’ve ever lived?

That’s hard! They were all beautiful for so many reasons. South Korea was fun Psi got really famous when I first moved there and everyone was talking about Gangdam style. Germany will always have a place in my heart.

What actor would you choose to play you in your biopic?

Anya Taylor Joy or Florence Pugh.

What do you do for fun?

I dry flowers and I like to read. I like to watch the sunset and the sunrise with a cup of tea… basically I am a grandma. Oh! I also redesign book covers and post them to @allexempersand on Instagram. 

What is the last book you read?

I just finished Magpie Murders but my favorite book is The Host by Stephenie Meyer.

Do you have any post grad plans?

I don’t! And I am totally at peace with that. I trust that God has a plan for me… something that includes medical insurance.
